LJ first started studying voice with Liz in the mid 2010s, navigating transition and testosterone HRT. It’s a full circle moment, and we love it!

As one of The Voice Lab’s first transgender students, LJ’s story is unique. He started lessons at a time when he needed more from his voice as a composer and professor, developing more masculine-coded speech techniques and expanding his singing range and style. As the years went on, his voice study melded with his many years of teaching—supporting fellow trans singers was a natural next step, and we have been delighted to see him shine! LJ’s teaching style is highly collaborative, balancing inquisitive consideration with joyful creativity. He is a steady, patient, encouraging mentor and instructor.
