Transgender Voice and Speech
Training for Teachers
As a voice teacher, you already know that voice training is a deeply personal and healing process. For transgender and gender nonconforming/nonbinary people, finding a voice that is congruent with their presentation and/or gender identity can influence employment, friendships, and even daily interactions like ordering a cup of coffee.
One Weird Trick: A User's Guide to Transgender Voice is a unique training guide that combines information about gender perception in voice and speech with easy-to-use exercises, and methods for daily implementation. Teachers can utilize the techniques outlined in the text to support transgender students in developing healthy, affirming voice and speech patterns.
Transgender Voice and Speech: Training for Teachers combines interactive webinars with one-on-one instruction. This course equips voice teachers with the necessary skills to guide transgender individuals toward healthy and affirming voice and speech styles, building on the strengths that voice teachers already possess as expert listeners and compassionate educators. After completion of online classes, which you can attend live or consume at your convenience for a limited time, author Liz Jackson Hearns and Voice Lab co-founder Alexandra Plattos Sulack provide one-on-one follow up sessions to ensure comprehension and practical applicability of the concepts laid out in One Weird Trick.
