Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from University of California San Diego (UCSD)
Office Administrator/Events Coordinator
Jaime joined The Voice Lab in March 2017 shortly after moving to Chicago from California. She loves organizing the lesson schedule and keeping the studio running smoothly so students and teachers can focus on making the magic happen.
What is your favorite thing about working at The Voice Lab?
I love being a part of The Voice Lab because it's so much more than voice and piano lessons, it's a community. Everyone is encouraged to be their authentic self, whatever that is in that day, in that moment. Students also have so many opportunities to perform and share their work, and create lasting friendships. As an added bonus, all my co-workers are excellent artists that are always involved in some exciting project – be it recording an album, or performing in improv, opera, or improv opera - all the while encouraging and supporting my own artistic career as a theater director.
What would you tell someone who's thinking about taking voice lessons?
You should absolutely go for it! The teachers here are so good at what they do, have such open hearts, and take the time to really see their students. It's quite vulnerable to be authentic and be seen, and The Voice Lab truly creates a safe and welcoming space to nurture that vulnerability.
What are your favorite artists/genres/occasions to sing?
I'm not going to lie, I was raised listening to classic rock, 80's pop hits, and show tunes, and those will forever be my go-to genres for karaoke. Some of my favorite artists that I listen to nowadays are Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, Lorn, Everything Everything, Portishead, and Fever Ray.
