Coll'Opera: Cabaret 101

Sing with us!

Grab a pal and sing together on a traditional cabaret. Small skits and banter accompany songs of every genre in a welcoming and fun atmosphere.

Coll'Opera was such a beautiful and rewarding experience. I loved working with my teacher, the director, and my cast mates. I'm excited to keep improving my singing skills and join another show!

Coll'Opera will be a fun and engaging program!

Sing it out!
Participants are given repertoire for scenes and chorus numbers. During musical rehearsals, each scene is guided by a Voice Lab faculty member and collaborative pianist. You'll be challenged and supported as you learn and perfect your music with your scene mates.
Act it out!
In addition to musical rehearsals, participants receive staging direction and acting guidance in a master class setting. Create a truly dynamic performance with thoughtful connection to your character and interpretation of your music.

Frequently asked questions

What if I don't have a classical background?
Coll'Opera: Cabaret 101 will incorporate music of all genres! Most of our students are newcomers to opera and classical singing, and we are thrilled to welcome you and support this new part of your musical journey. You will be supported in your lessons and rehearsals so that you feel confident and prepared to take the stage!

How will my repertoire be selected?
Repertoire is selected based on voice type and musical interest of the participants. Our goal is to pair you with like-minded folks who will support your musical and artistic growth and be a ton of fun to work with.

When and where are rehearsals?
Rehearsal days/times/locations are built around your availability and the availability of our faculty members and partners. We will do our best to get your rehearsal schedule to you ASAP. We know you have a busy life AND that spending time making music is important.

What if I have to miss a rehearsal?
When you fill out your registration form, be sure to include any and all conflicts within the rehearsal and performance timeline. We will do our best to work around those conflicts. Choosing to be part of a performance ensemble is a commitment and it's important to attend every rehearsal you're called to, and to give your teachers as much advanced notice as possible if something comes up.

We can't wait to make beautiful music with you!
