ColLABorate Band Camp

ColLABorate with us!

ColLABorate Band Camp is a complete band experience. From creating original arrangements of your favorite songs to playing a show, students are supported by our encouraging faculty.
You'll grow as a musician, make new friends, and have a blast!

It's community, and love, and fantastic-ness!
-Jamie M

How does it work?

Jam with your bandmates!
You and your new music buddies learn 2-3 cover songs in addition to your original, and rehearse for 5 weeks, guided by a Voice Lab teacher. Bands are selected based on mutual enthusiasm and skill level compatibility.
Play a show!
Show your stuff at the ColLABorate concert and see what your fellow campmates have been up to. Invite your friends, family, and fans!
Spring 2020 ColLABorate
postponed
We can’t wait to jam with you in the studio later this year! Stay tuned for updates!

Frequently asked questions

What if I don't have any musical background?
Even if you've never played music before, you'll find a welcoming and encouraging group of folks at ColLABorate. We will make sure you are supported and engaged throughout the camp experience and you'll have a great time discovering all the musical things you can do!

When and where are rehearsals?
The rehearsal schedule is built around you and your band mates' availability, and rehearsals are usually weekday evenings and weekends.

What if I have to miss a rehearsal?
Each band's rehearsal schedule is crafted to align with your availability and your performance preparation goals. If you have conflicts in the weeks leading up to the virtual concert, let us know so we can be sure to accommodate you.

How are the bands selected?
Bands are assembled based on instrumentation, skill level, musical interest, and rehearsal availability. Our goal is to pair you with like-minded folks who will both support and challenge you to grow as a musician and make new friends. It's not uncommon for ColLABorate members to continue as bandmates after the program has ended.

Will I get to pick my own cover songs?
Yes! What we typically do is ask for suggestions from band members and offer a list of songs to choose from as well. From those lists, your band leader will choose songs based on the band's skill level and interest, and distribute chord and lyric charts.
